Best Infrared Heaters

Infrared heaters radiate heat directly onto whatever is in front of them — you, the couch, the floor — so you feel warm before the air temperature catches up, and the warmth doesn't all drift to the ceiling. Wood-cabinet 'quartz' heaters add a fan and a thermostat to push that heat across a room; wall-mount panels do the same job in a slim, kid-safe package. Same 1,500W ceiling as any 120V heater, but in a drafty or high-ceilinged room they feel more effective for the same electricity.

Dr Infrared Heater DR-968

#1

Dr Infrared Heater DR-968

The wood-cabinet infrared heater everyone else copies — dual PTC + quartz elements, a quiet blower, a real thermostat, and a 12-hour timer.

9.0
/ 10

Pros

  • +Dual heating system (quartz infrared + PTC) — heats people directly, then the room
  • +Quiet: the blower is rated around 39 dB, far below a typical ceramic fan heater
  • +Digital thermostat 50–86°F with auto mode, 12-hour timer, and a remote

Cons

  • Still 1,500W — the '1,000 sq ft' marketing means supplemental heat in a big room, not sole heat
  • Heavy (~19 lb) and boxy; this lives in one room
