Best Electric Fireplaces

Electric fireplaces are a 1,500W fan-forced heater wearing a very good costume: LED flames over a log or crystal bed, a thermostat and timer, and a remote — no chimney, no gas line, no permits. Recessed and wall-mount linear units give a modern living room a focal point; inserts revive a dead masonry fireplace; TV-stand consoles bundle media storage with heat. The heat is real (about 5,000 BTU, a 150–400 sq ft room) but supplemental — you're buying ambiance first and warmth second.

R.W.FLAME 50" Recessed & Wall-Mounted Electric Fireplace

#1

R.W.FLAME 50" Recessed & Wall-Mounted Electric Fireplace

The best-selling linear fireplace for a reason: 50 inches of adjustable flame, a 750/1,500W heater, touch screen plus remote, and a price that undercuts the premium brands by half.

9.0
/ 10

Pros

  • +Recessed (2×6 wall) or wall-mounted — the thin housing works either way
  • +750 / 1,500W fan-forced heater with thermostat and timer; flame runs without heat
  • +Adjustable flame color, ember-bed color, brightness, and speed; log and crystal media included

Cons

  • Heater is 1,500W like every plug-in — supplemental warmth for ~400 sq ft, not a furnace
  • Flame realism is good, not Dimplex-level; it reads as LED up close
